Angel Fire Mountain Bike Trip 6/26

ANGEL FIRE MOUNTAIN BIKE TRIP   JUNE 26TH - JUNE 28TH

The dates for the Angel Fire New Mexico Mountain Bike trip will be June 26th - 28th. The trip itinerary is not completely decided but tentatively, we plan to ride as follows:Friday, June 26th: Ride Angel Fire resort.  The resort consists of mostly moderate to extreme downhill trails and all mountain trails with a small portion of cross country trails.  The trails are lift accessed by a high speed quad chair.   Full suspension bikes are highly recommended and the more travel the better.  Be sure your brakes are ready to be put to the test.  Bikes are available for rent but they are a bit pricey.  I have ridden my 29er all - mountain bike at the park and it did great.   Please see the resort link below for more info.
Angel FireYou are on your own for lodging and transportation to the Angel fire however once we figure out who is committed to making the trip, we will try to help organize rides and group accommodations.  There are some good deals on Condos at the resort which can sleep 4- 10 people.  This can bring average cost down significantly.
http://www.angelfireresort.com/activities/bike-park/Saturday, June 27th:  Ride South Boundary Trail.  This ride will require a shuttle from the resort to the trail head and then from Taos back to the resort.  We are working on arranging a shuttle for all individuals interested in making this epic cross-country ride.  The ride is approximately 25 miles long and the majority of the ride is downhill with three fairly significant high elevation climbs (approx 2500' of combined climbing).  We will start about 8 miles south of Angel Fire resort and ride into Taos.  The trail is 90% single track and travels through miles of aspen forest.   Preparation physically and mechanically is important.
Be sure to pack the following:
Sunday, June 28th:  Possibly a half day of downhilling at the resort or drive to the new Gallisteo x-country trails south of Santa Fe depending on individuals energy levels.  Some will probably want to start driving home Sunday morning.
Please let me know ASAP if you plan to make the South Boundary Ride on Saturday so I can get an approximate head count for planning the shuttle.  You can send me an e-mail at stmpetro@gmail.com
Thanks,
