Ride Details

Date: Saturday, January 23, 2021
Time: 10 a.m. ride off, picture at 9:50 a.m. of our “beary” cute participants
Meeting Location: Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 5110 N. Garfield Street, Midland TX

This is a 35-mile NO DROP ride. (No drop indicates that your group will wait those who fall behind). We will divide into two pace groups, three if participants need a slower group. We are enlisting a ride leader and SAG rider for each group, and hopefully a follow vehicle. The pace groups will be as follows:

  • 16-17 mph (you can go faster if desired, but this is the group pace)
  • 13-15 mph
  • 10-12 mph (newbie group if needed, distance will be shortened)

The ride will start and end at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, which is a few blocks north of Brew Street. Brew Street has an outdoor patio for a hot cup of coffee with an indoor option depending on your COVID comfort level.

Route

See the full route on Strava. Add or decrease loops at Greentree and/or Avalon to adjust the distance to your comfort level. This ride will aim for about 35 miles.

Reminder - Dress for Temperature!

Be sure to dress for the temperature. You might need shoe covers and/or foil in your shoe tips, hand warmers in your gloves and some fleecy, windproof clothing. It is a good idea to dress warmer than needed. Carrying a string backpack will allow you to remove a layer if you overdress. If you underdress, you may be cold longer than is comfortable.

Ride Updates

West Texas weather can be unpredictable. We will ride if it is cold and clear. In the event of precipitation, the ride will be cancelled. Watch Facebook groups Friends of the PBBA and Saturday Holy Cross Ride for updates. We could be surprised with a warmer, pleasant temperature.
