April MeetingMembers of the PBBA met on Monday, April 16, 2018, to discuss event handling for National Bike Month, in addition to hearing from representatives from the Permian Basin Metropolitan Planning Organization and the City of Odessa Planning and Development Department.Lorrine Quimiro from the PBMPO encouraged the club to widely publicize one of our upcoming rides in connection with National Bike Month. Both her and Tim McDaniel from the City of Odessa also answered questions about changes to infrastructure that will affect bicyclists in the area. One such item was the discussion that proposals have been submitted regarding the building of a cycling corridor between Midland and Odessa. This would offer a protected path of travel for cyclists wishing to go between the two cities. In addition, several people mentioned how important it was that cyclists have safer options for riding amongst the severe increase in motorist traffic. In conclusion, Jason Haislip of Peyton's Bikes mentioned supporting the skateboard parks, current and future, and they often cater to BMX riders. It was noted that the PBBA supports all disciplines of cycling in the area, including road, mountain, cyclocross, BMX, commuters, etc.The discussion will continue on our official Facebook group page. Thanks to all who could attend and lend their voice to the discussion!
