Note: , hwy 1788 from 191 to the airport entrance is now ONLY one lane in each direction. The other lane has been removed and there's a 6 inch drop off. There is no where to get out of traffic if you take this road. [Larry Eads] ... See MoreSee Less
The saga continues. After being notified on Thursday about 3 pm that Laura, while on fishing trip to Bend OR, had broken her leg and was scheduled for surgery for 5 pm, l booked a flight leaving Midland at 6am Friday and arriving in Bend at 2:44 pm. Simple enough, Midland to Houston to San Francisco to Bend OR. Wrong......got to San Francisco about 11 am alright. Then the fun begins. My 12:30 flight to Bend first is delayed about 3 hours, then we board the plane, sit for 45 minutes, then told to exit the aircraft since we had no pilot. Then about an hour later the flight is cancelled. Told that the root cause is a runway closure for maintenance. During Memorial Day Weekend!! Good grief!!
After standing inline for about an hour I am told the best United can do is a flight that leaves SFO at 5 pm and arriving at Bend at 7 pm on Saturday. I get to spend the night in SFO, compliments of United. Mean while, Laura has successful surgery and is the hospital in Bend. While at the hotel Friday evening, I get a text from United telling me that my flight has been changed to leave SFO at 6 am to LAX then arriving in Bend at 11:45 Saturday. I get to airport at 4:30 Saturday morning and told that my flight has been changed to leave SFO 9:45 for a direct flight to Bend arriving at 11:30 am. Currently, sitting the airport in SFO waiting for my 9:45 flight. At least this is my latest rumor. Laura may be healed up by the time I get there.
We still don't how long Laura has to stay in the hospital or when we can fly home. Another adventure in progress. Plus I expect the worse from Obamacare, since we are not at home and out of network. Grrrrrrrrrrrr........
And also, I have three airline claims to file for flight cancellations due to medical reasons if and when we ever get home. Good thing I am retired to have the time to work on. ... See MoreSee Less
Does anyone want to ride from Midland over to the start of the Memorial Day ride on Monday morning? I'm thinking about leaving about 6:30 to allow a full hour to get there and still have time for socializing prior to the ride.
