One of the most important factors in cycling performance is how well your body supplies energy to your working muscles.  The presentation will primarily focus on how your body provides you with the energy you need for optimal performance on the bicycle.  We will also explain different field and laboratory tests that can be done to assess your fitness and review general training principles that will help you improve your performance.

About the Presenter – Dave Morris is a former competitive road cyclist and mountain biker.  He received his Ph.D. from the University of New Mexico in 2005 and has spent several years working as a physiologist for the United States Olympic Committee and the US Cycling Team.  In 1997, Dave created RacersReady.com, a coaching, consulting, and research company that focuses primarily on endurance athlete performance.  Over the past twenty years, Dr. Morris has coached cyclists to dozens of national, world cup, and world championships.  In addition to his work with athletes, Dave spent several years consulting and collaborating with the warfighter performance staff at US Army Special Operations Command, Ft. Bragg, NC, where he assisted in the preparation of special forces soldiers.  Dr. Morris currently holds a faculty position at the University of Texas – Permian Basin where he teaches exercise physiology and sport nutrition and performs research in the areas of athlete performance and environmental physiology.
